Radioisotopes : LUSENET : Introductory Geology, Oswego State : One Thread

Are most isotopes of elements highly radioactive? What makes the isotope so radioactive? Does a radio isotope always eventually decay to a more stable isotope?

The nucleus of radioactive atoms is very unstable. When it decays it forms a new element and emits radiation in the form of energy. The new element is called the daughter and is more stable than the original atom.
