Help!!! havea dear friend who is complainging of her mouth being very salty tasting. Can't get the taste to go away. IT's getting worse by the day. She is a very clean lady. Could it be chemical imbalance? Or fillings the dentist put in years ago? She hasn't changed her diet at all. She doesn't want to see the doc. so I thought I would ask you all here if you have any answers. THanks for your i,put!!

Last fall, I had some severe headaches and developed a salty taste in the mouth. To me the taste was that of McDonald French Fries--no matter what-food, drink, water, anything. I went to the Dr. and was tested for zinc level, and it was extremely low. So, I have been taking over the counter zinc several times a day. It could be dental, but try the zinc first. The taste is still there, but not near as strong, it has been since Sept. I will be seeing a neurologist this april as I believe that I may have had a stroke and have slight bleeding on the brain. But try the zinc, it does work. Lynne

Lynne is completely right. Try the zinc....

Does your friend take a lot of non-aspirin products??? that could also be a part of the problem. People can develop a sensitivity to them.

Thanks Lynne and Sue for your help. No my friend does not take any aspirin products. She does however have a thyroid problem. I told her to try the zinc. She said she would get some this week end. THanks again!!

Have a great day!

Michelle, if your friend is hypothyroid (low), organic kelp is worth trying, also will help correct any mineral imbalances present, starting dose is usually a 1/4 teaspoon twice a day.

I don't have the answer, however I do have the problem. I was just curious if by taking the zinc it truly helped. I currently on a lot of maedication and was contributing the salty taste to that. However I have been taking the medication for sometime now, and have never had this happen. If anyone could help me I would apprecite it. I'm only 39 years of age.
