greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

Please post your scores if you don't mind. I'm very curious

What is your Spritual Type?

My score: 67-- Old-fashioned Seeker -- Happy with my religion but searching for the right expression of it

-- (cin@cin.cin), March 27, 2001

Answers

Thanks Cin, I got a 98. The problem is that there were no appropriate answers for many of the questions, so I ended up answering more like a fundamentalist than I really am.

-- Dr. Pibb (dr.pibb@zdnetonebox.com), March 27, 2001.

Pulled a 43

-- Carlos (riffraff@cybertime.net), March 27, 2001.

I scored 26. But this quiz won't score you unless you answer every question, and some of the questions have no answer that even comes close. Ah well...

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), March 27, 2001.

Thanks you guys for your candor.

Here's how to interpret your score:

25 - 29 Hardcore Skeptic -- but interested or you wouldn't be here! 30 - 39 Spiritual Dabbler -- Open to spiritual matters but far from impressed 40 - 49 Active Spiritual Seeker – Spiritual but turned off by organized religion

50 - 59 Spiritual Straddler – One foot in traditional religion, one foot in free-form spirituality 60 - 69 Old-fashioned Seeker -- Happy with my religion but searching for the right expression of it

70 - 79 Questioning Believer – You have doubts about the particulars but not the Big Stuff

80 - 89 Confident Believer – You have little doubt you’ve found the right path

90 - 100 Candidate for Clergy

-- (cin@cin.cin), March 27, 2001.

My Dear Ms. cin, you have omitted the 'dabblers' such as I.

-- So (cr@t.es), March 27, 2001.

Please retract! the formatting fooled these old eyes.

-- So (cr@t.es), March 27, 2001.

Trust me, I am not a candidate for the Clergy, although I did see The Clergy in concert once.

-- Dr. Pibb (dr.pibb@zdnetonebox.com), March 27, 2001.

I'm so sorry. Let me try again Thanks you guys for your candor.

Well well, Flint. At least you're a consistent atheist.

-- (@ .), March 27, 2001.

Hi cin.

I'm a bit surprised by my score of 35 - the Spiritual Dabbler. (Open to spiritual matters but far from impressed)

I have always seen myself as more of an active spiritual seeker. (Spiritual but turned off by organized religion)

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), March 27, 2001.

Hi Debra!

Perhaps the unanswerable questions throw it off a bit. There were one or two that I just had to guess at, because there was no accurate response.

-- (cin@cin.cin), March 27, 2001.

Many questions without an appropriate answer would certainly tend to give inconsistent results. However I believe that the description of my religious beliefs is accurate.

My score: 19

-- Malcolm Taylor (taylorm@es.co.nz), March 27, 2001.

Uh did you say 19? Unholy mackerel! heehee =)

-- (cin@cin.cin), March 27, 2001.

I scored a 15.

Looks like Malcolm and I are the resident heathens...

-- nonehere (none@to.give), March 27, 2001.

Dabbler, James Dabbler... licensed to kill, shaken not stirred.

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), March 27, 2001.

I got a 35 [just like Debra]. I only found one question that didn't provide a satisfactory answer for me. [I already forgot which one.]

A LOT of the questions revolved around "Just be nice to other people." It never much mattered to me how folks might get to that point, but if people CAN, a society can form.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), March 28, 2001.

Wow cin, what a bizarze quiz. I guess it ain't a one size fits all. My responses to the questions, immediately, did not even come close to the responses given. But given the available replys, gave it my best shot, tho most are far away from this Chrisitan based site (no criticism ya understand). There are so many more responses that are not categorized, it is unreal. Just FYI, it seems to be slanted to me. So struggling with the options available, thought most of the options were vastly different than what I believe, I got a 76-but it doesn't feel right, because the questions/responses were so incongruous. Just FWIW. Odd, just odd.

-- Aunt Bee (Aunt__Bee@hotmail.com), March 28, 2001.

34 here....with 12 yrs of Catholic school under my belt too. [g]

-- JCL Jockey (WeThrive@nStress.com), March 28, 2001.

85.... only about 25% of the answers I gave reflect what I believe. For the most part, I could pick more than one answer, or I couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

-- (bygrace@thru.faith), March 28, 2001.

I still haven't found what I am looking for.

-- U2 (Bono@theEdge.AdamandLarry), March 28, 2001.

51 - pretty much right on the fence also with 12 years of Catholic education.

I agree Anita - people just gotta be 'nice' to each other. I believe it's the old golden rule thing....

It's really sad so many people have died in the name of 'religion' over the years. That's the puzzler for me.

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), March 28, 2001.

Hey there, cin -- the test was interesting in a way, but frustrating in others, as I was forced to answer a few things that didn't reflect my true feelings. Maybe they could have put a little more thought into some of the options, or added more. But overall it was fun; thanks.

My score was 38 -- not too far off from how I view myself.

Well.....today, anyway. :)

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), March 28, 2001.

I scored a 42.

Was right on for me...turned off by organized religon...must of been that Catholic upbringing..sigh!

-- Peg (pegmcleod@mediaone.net), March 28, 2001.

17. I'm off the scale.

-- Tarzan the Ape Man (tarzan@swingingthroughthejunglewithouta.net), March 28, 2001.

LOL Tarzan! Based on the questions and choice of answers I would have guessed it impossible to score that low!

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), March 28, 2001.

Debra, I did a "say what?!?" when I saw you as low as 35. Maybe you were just having an "off" day? :)

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), March 28, 2001.

Debra-

I am what I am.

-- Tarzan the Ape Man (tarzan@swingingthroughthejunglewithouta.net), March 28, 2001.

43, but feel more like a 25 or less. Survived 12 yrs. of Catholic school too.

-- Buddy (buddydc@go.com), March 28, 2001.

I scored a 50. Spiritual Straddler – One foot in traditional religion, one foot in free-form spirituality.

I think that's pretty accurate if one lops off the word traditional.

-- Rich (howe9@shentel.net), March 28, 2001.

Straddler. Who would have guessed? Interesting comments in the message board regarding other "straddlers". I prefer to call myself "spiritually promiscuous".

-- FutureShock (gray@matter.think), March 28, 2001.

I scored a 96. But I also agree that I had to give answers to some of the questions that weren't completely satisfactory.

They didn't ask me, for example, what I thought about large, expensive and fancy church buildings. By and large, I think they're a waste of money.

-- Stephen M. Poole (smpoole7@bellsouth.net), March 28, 2001.

Hi Eve,

No, I wasn't having an 'off' day. Like others here I think it's a result of my Catholic upbringing.

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), March 28, 2001.

Strangest thing. Computer began to smoke and sputter. Sour, sulferous fumes emitted. A deep voice boomed "Get thee behind me, Satan!"

-- (nemesis@awol.com), March 28, 2001.

Debra -- I hear ya -- but just from your posts, you've somehow seemed to me as being much more spiritual (though not necessarily in a traditional sense) than your score.

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), March 28, 2001.

I wanna know just how I got an 84?

Scratching head and thanking cin :-)

-- (morphed@one.sumer), March 28, 2001.

Forty

-- flora (***@__._), March 28, 2001.

LOL Eve. Like I said - my score surprised me too!

Seriously though, when I encountered questions where the answers didn't clearly state my feelings I felt the answers I chose would have resulted in a score higher than what would be true.

A score of 35 doesn't leave much wiggle room. I feel like I should say I'm ashamed of myself (that good old Catholic upbringing) but I'm not. :)

Yesterday I was what I was. Today I am what I am and tomorrow I'll be what I'll be.

For some reason this thread brought up the memory of Gilda (was that her name?) Where has she been? I miss her.

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), March 28, 2001.

I scored 21. But, as often happens with politics, my views tended not to be represented among the choices. I guess, according to this poll, that I agree with Tarzan on everything but whether unadvisable is a word.

-- dandelion (golden@pleurisy.plant), March 28, 2001.

***They didn't ask me, for example, what I thought about large, expensive and fancy church buildings. By and large, I think they're a waste of money.**

I hear that, Stephen. The "Tower of Babyl" comes to mind. I think the money spent to build the Crystal Cathedral could have fed several thousands (millions?)of people for weeks.

-- (cin@cin.cin), March 28, 2001.

Before I ever looked at the quiz I already knew I was a spiritually promiscuous 100-top-score member of the clergy...but I was disappointed to find out God did not write the quiz -- too many badly spelled words and incorrect grammar.

The answers were easier because I let God answer many of them... but still I got a 77. Still trying to figure out why God brought me back to life after the brush with death.

Anyway I still plan on vows. Some day. God bless you all.

-- Oxsys (Makalani7788@aol.com), March 28, 2001.

LOL Ox....I still cant figure how come I got an 84.

See you had to come back, more to do, places to go, people to see. Drunk drivers to sue.!!!!!

Here is hoping you feel mucho better.

-- sumer (morphed@sumer.con), March 29, 2001.

I scored/was rated at 58..a Spiritual Straddler..

-- meat be meat (nice little quiz and nothing s@id.about cats), March 29, 2001.

Just because I'm a 'Straddler' doesn't mean I meant to kill the thread..

-- meat be meat (and@nother post with out mentioning .cats), April 03, 2001.

doesnt everything die around you?

-- (yah@yah.yah), April 03, 2001.

17 for me. Put 'er there, Tarzan!

I have seen both The Cult and the Reverend Horton Heat live in concert, but that's about as close as I get to organized religion. Fortunately, hats were not passed at either show, though underwear was thrown at the good Reverend.

-- You're Not Getting My Wallet (xtians.are.full.of@it.com), April 04, 2001.

woohoo Ian Astbury! Right on. I love The Cult.

-- (cin@cin.cin), April 04, 2001.

56...

Some of the questions had no answers that were appropriate for me.

Chalk it up to another imperfect poll that tells me absolutely nothing.

No offense, Cin...

chewin' on a holy book...

The Dog

-- The Dog (dogdesert@hotmail.com), April 05, 2001.

So sorry you weren't fulfilled by this, doggy. LOL I just thought it would be fun to see how flint and tarzan scored. (lower scores than i expected lol)

Check out the site there (beliefnet.com). I found it very interesting.

Oh and give me that book - naughty dog!
