The Death of "Lindsay the Amazing LapGoat"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Yes,you read it right...Sadly enough Lindsay has died.A dog shredded the wood on the shed and got in and killed all her fellow goats..I'm sure you've read Cindy in OK's post about it all so I'll keep it short. And in case you're wondering, yes,I'm her daughter. Thanks all who has posted.

So sorry to hear Lindsay has died! You poor kid! Thinking of you!

Have not a clue where you are located, but when you get your fencing fixed I would be happy to give you a kid from this year. All our kids are bottle babies, so you could have another lap goat! If you are not in Texas or close enough to drive over, their is a hauler going all over the United States in May, think your fencing will be done by then? Perhaps we could also find you a guardian dog (how about it forum folks) to raise with your new herd? Vicki

Vicki,what a nice gesture.

-- JT (gone2seed@hotmail.com), March 26, 2001.

Wow thanks millions Vicki! :-) We live in Norman,Oklahoma. It's a while from Texas but not too far. I really appreciate it.We were discussing a little bit ago about getting a guard dog for them, what kind of guard dog would you suggest? And yes we'll have the fence up in two weeks. :-) If it could work out, words can't express how appreciated it will be. :-)

Stick with a guardian dog that has been raised with goats, stay away from rescue, or buying cause they are cute house dogs. Pyr's and Anatolians are very popular, and a cross is perfectly fine. I know their are folks on this list who have guardians. I prefer Ridgebacks, but since I am having a time finding one for myself, you would be better off with an eaiser to find breed that is with stock now. Vicki

Cosmic Country Girl,

"Great Pyr./Anatolian, 6pups, Exc herd/property protection, wrkg parents $75ea 277-3328"

This was in your local paper, OK City. Call and see if any are left. Sounds just like what Vicki was describing. I'll pitch in $20.00 towards the pup. Let us know if any are left.

-- Cindy in Ky (solidrockranch@hotmail.com), March 27, 2001.

I'll pitch in another twenty towards the dog. Vicki, that was a great thing to offer. Please email me your address so I can get it the mail to you. Keep your chin up, Cosmic, I'm so sorry you experienced this.

Cindy, and Cosmic Girl, I have kids due in the middle of June, and I would like to donate one to you. I plan to travel to Lake Texoma to see my mom around July, maybe I could get her to you then. Unless someone else is doing transport? I am in Flagstaff, so if anyone is going that way around that time, maybe we can do an exchange? In His Grace, Sissy

Words can not express how I feel at this moment. I want to thank all of you for outstretching your hearts and hands to help my children feel better. My daughter that submitted this post is taking the whole thing the hardest since her and I worked with the goats together. (I hope she doesn't mind me putting that). I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart and if ever I can repay the kindness, do let me know!(she read the post, it's ok that I put that ;-)

Cindy

I thought I'd pop in and thank everyone a million times over again. And say,Thanks for the Ad. We called and they did have some puppies left. They're the Pyrenees/Anatolian mix and we got one. We've named her "Buffy" after "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" we figured she should have a name that meant business. ;-) Anyway Thanks a trillion times again!

-- Cosmic Country Girl (CosmicCountry@Yahoo.com), March 27, 2001.

Oh, you got one! What a cute name Buffy, I have a darling rabbit named Buffy. I'm so happy that they had one left! Did you get to see the mom, was she real big? I am familiar with both breeds and would love to see what she looks like. It's also good to meet people with guardian dogs as they can help you train Buffy.

What a wonderful forum to belong to, you all are great! E-mail me your address, Cosmic Country Girl, and hang in there sweetie. Give the puppy a kiss for me!
