We have seen many ideas for climbing a pole. let's try for a device that climbs a cable and must take the entire team one by one to safety from deep within a ravine. The cable doesn't even have to be very high above the ground, it just has to run a few hundred feet to a platform. The object is to get the whole team to said platform, one at a time and the fastest team wins. Ski lift anyone?

Answers

Are you talking about a line crawler, where the cable doesn't move but the device riding along on the cable does; or a traditional cable car, where the cable moves with the car firmly attached to a fixed point along its length? The former might be possible, the later a bit much.
