Hey Cindy, the site was slow this morning, one I posted didn't go thru either, so it's probably not you. Maybe my local ISP had problems.

-- Cindy in Ky (solidrockranch@hotmail.com), March 15, 2001.

Hello Bob, And here's the site that explains my religion. www.scientology.org Sincerely, Ernest http://communities.msn.com/livingoffthelandintheozarks

-- Ernest in the Ozarks (espresso42@hotmail.com), March 15, 2001.

Explaining my religion is real easy. Turn from the computer and look out your window.Nuff said.

-- jz (oz49us@yahoo.com), March 15, 2001.

Yes, David C. it can increase milk production. Matt.18:19 , John 14:13-14 , John16:23-27 , James 4:3 , 1st John5:14-15 , It is not a "magical" thing it is faith, if it isn't 'working' your are not right with God.

Solution, repent, accept at Jesus has covered/washed away your sin, and start off right again!

-- Thumper (slrldr@aol.com), March 15, 2001.

Dave, you might check in with the Hare Krishnas. If there is going to be an authority on milk production or anything to do with cows, they would be my best guess.

-- jz (oz49@us@yahoo.com), March 19, 2001.

I don't actually have cows, but if I ever get some I'll be sure that I teach them to read.

I don't want to disrespect anyone on this list but as someone who has read the bible the koran sat in buddist temples lived in japan i have come to the conclusion that christianity is probably the worst religion in the world the basic premise is that god makes man (woman is a mere after thought but that is another point)then god get mad at people for their disobedience and punishes them kick them out of his garden but then god get the idea to have a son with a virgin woman so that the humans can torture and kill him and whoever believes that this torture was necessary can be rewarded with paradise eternal heaven but whoever doesn't think this way will be tortured forever in hell. I will close with i love family and am a good productive member of society jkg

-- jason godsey (jasonkgodsey@hotmail.com), March 20, 2001.

Jason, a true Christian will not feel disrespected by your interesting comments. I am happy, as are others, to hear the beliefs of non-Christians. You sound well traveled and highly educated. I am pleased to read that you realize God, the Creator, made mankind. This is true. God also provided everything man and woman needed in the Garden of Eden. What a wonderful relationship they had with their Creator. We humans tend to measure God with our yardstick-with the way we think He should act & rule. It's human nature, I guess. We must remember God is NOT just a good man. He is the Supreme Creator. His ways are not our ways. He is HOLY and Just. His rules are just and right. His rule was to not eat of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. Mankind disobeyed, I'm glad you see that. Since God is Just, He must punish and reward accordingly or how else could He remain Just and Holy? Mankind got the just consequences of their actions (disobedience). But God, in His Love, saw that mankind could not by thier own strength, tenacity and wisdom remain obedient. This seperation betwen God and mankind had to be bridged. God desired a restored relationship with his creation. So he asked His beloved Son, the only perfect sinless sacrifice around, to pay the penalty of sin to his Holy Father God. Jesus said yes. Jesus' infinite Love provided a substitute (himself), for payment of the penalty of disobedience for me and for you. It wasn't necessary. God could have allowed us all to each pay that penalty. But I am so grateful that He loved me enough to take my place in Hell and then offer this to me as His gift. I accepted that gift by believing what He did for me and by asking him to be the boss of my life. I reached out and received His gift. No one has to take this gift. Many don't and will each pay the penalty themself for their disobedience.

Jason it's your choice - it always was. Humanly, it's hard to understand how a loving Creator could sacrifice a Son to torment and torture. But remember, Jesus had a choice. He willing gave his life for you. TRUE LOVE is self-sacrificing. I am praying a loving father like yourself, will understand this kind of sacrificial love. Peace be with you, Jason.

And I suppose that if all those poor misguided farmers over in England would "get right with God", hoof and mouth disease would just disappear...

-- Sherri C (CeltiaSkye@aol.com), March 20, 2001.

Sherri C,

I don't quite see the connection, but miracles do happen! There is power in the name of Jesus. When people pray, miracles do happen!

you'll find the answer here http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010320/ts/vatican_abuse_dc5.html

I find your thoughts interesting, Jason. It seems you have experienced enough religions to have some informed opinions. I was raised a christian , in fact my first college course was old testament literature. Fortunately for me, i think, I didn't close down my mind at that point and continued to search for meaning in my life. Bhuddism seemed to speak to me in a way that required no faith, It just made sense. I liked the idea that the answers lie within each of us. We don't have to take anyones opinion and believe it is god speaking. After 20 years of dabbling in buddhism, and taoism, I ran into an monk who proclaimed to be an Expert. He had the definative answer to everything and the only valid interpretation of what so and so said. Well to say the least this was quite a shock as I had believed buddhism merely offered a path which one could follow or not. After all that my point is that I think all religions speak of the unspeakable. G-d if you will. It is when man takes matters of the spirit and makes them into a religion and puts exclusive labels on it is when some of us get turned off by it. I have an uncle who is a christian missionary in Africa. When I have seen him he has never tried to cram his religion down my throat. His life is his message and i feel that he and I share that same unspeakable thing. Peace to you and may you have a rewarding search

But Crazyboy, that vatican abuse is the exception. There are bad people in every walk of life. The rest of us Christians are decent, loving people who want to share the joy we have in knowing Jesus as our personal Savior. We'd like you to know Him too!

I see a big difference between what Christianity is about and how most "Christians" lead their lives. I too have read much about the worlds major religions and find truth (and similarity) in the basis of all of them. I would not deny that the teachings of Christ are a sound basis for leading an enlightened and constructive life, but no more so than any of the other religions (if one was clearly better, then there would only be one religion in the world!). However, religious dogma and distortion of historical teaching is responsible for more human suffering than anything else that mankind has ever come up with. Christianity probably leads the field here.

-- David C (fleece@eritter.net), March 21, 2001.

David C. and Jason, I'd like to know what source you have to back up the historical comments on Christians torturing others. Just curious.

-- Bob Frohmader (buksnort@mwt.net), March 21, 2001.

I'm not necessarily referring to torture, more the many wars that have some of their basis in religious differences. It's going on all over the world today.

I believe that the one pathway to spending eternal life in the paradise we call heaven is thru accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. When people dispute my belief, my answer is - If I am wrong and you are right, there is no loss for me: because I have spent my life trying to follow what Christ taught - Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. At the end of my life, if my beliefs were in err, I cannot think that my living that way (to the best of my ability) is something I would regret. But, if I am right and you are wrong - then your consequence for not accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour is to spend ETERNITY separated from God. Since every good thing comes from God that means that hell will be completely void of any good thing. That is the choice God offers us all. And may God bless you with the knowledge of it. Cynthia

First i want to state that everyone here who has e-mailed me at home has been kind and polite and respectful and i hope I am the same to them but The fact of christians killing people is a matter of publc record. Walk through a museum in europe and see the mouth plum the iron maiden there torture devices where invented and used by cristians read the court records we still have about how to torture and burn witchs millions of woman where killed and tortured In fact the expression we have today "they gave me the 3rd degree" is from these times they tortured witchs 3 times and confiscated all their property of the victim Read Malleus Maleficarum written in 1486 the official handbook of the Inquisition and as many of my christian friends say "and I have many" oh that was catholics read Jews and their lies written by Martin Luther the big reformer. Even the popular christian maryter symbol is false in 312 AD roman emperior Constantine officially converted to christianity and by 340 AD any form of pagan worship in rome got you killed it is a captial offense this is public record. As christianity was carried into europe by sword it was a 1000 year rain of terror in 782 AD Emperor Charemagne killed 5,000 Saxons in one day who refused to give up their old gods and be baptised. The famous Anglo-Saxons where not christian and about 50% where killed making them so. Even crusade records show the christians had a worse human rights record than the muslims. I could go on and on when the Puritans controlled america it was even worse than the tightest muslim controlled country today illegal to go to the beach read the old new england laws those are my sources. I would be very afraid of a fundementilist christian nation. In 640 AD Christians burned the great library of Alexandria and 70,000 volumes gone and 270,000 documents in library of Ptolemy Philadeephus the greeks knew the world was round and the sun was in the center of the solar system but the christians burned everything and in 590 Pope Gregory I banned education for all but clergy I have two friends who are PhD of religious one even translates from greek and these are accurate facts. but when christianity ruled the world it was called the dark ages it was a bad time. I am glad all the readers of countryside are kind moral people who keep this emotionally charged topic civil sunshine and happiness to all jkg

-- jason godsey (jasonkgodsey@hotmail.com), March 22, 2001.

Jason, All I can say in response to your last post is that people behaving that way (at any point in history) may bear the label of Christian - but they are not following the example or teachings of Jesus Christ my Lord. May the Lord shine on you all today! Springtime is coming, even to NW Minnesota! Cynthia

-- Cynthia Speer (farmsteader@gvtel.com), March 22, 2001.

Good point Cynthia, just because someone says they are christian doesn't mean they really are, if you do not follow Christ, and strive to better your relationship with Him, you are not really a christian no matter what you say you belive.
