Japan's current account surplus plunges 59.7 percent in January TOKYO, March 14 (AFP) - Japan's current account surplus in January plunged 59.7 percent from a year earlier to 249.6 billion yen (2.1 billion dollars), the finance ministry said Wednesday.

The trade surplus in the month nosedived a staggering 89.9 percent to 64.8 billion yen, with exports rising 2.9 percent to 3,467.6 billion yen and imports gaining a robust 24.8 percent to 3,402.7 billion yen.
