i think that edgar allan poe didnt trust life very much. it had treated him badly and taken away all that he knew as good, so he took up alcohol and drugs to help, and he wrote. he probably had a dim view of life, seeing as how morbid his works were. and i know that just because they're morbid doesnt make him a morbid man but from everything i have read and heard, he was quite the dark dude. iw ould have been his friend tho :)
