The purloined letter was a mystery with the infamous detective poe introduces. I cant recall his name, but he was the basis for sherlock holmes.ANyway, The detective and his sidekick( name never mentioned) are given the case of finding a letter in which it has been stolen. A preist took it back from a woman who had it. The detective is asked to fin it . the police have looked and searched the preist's house and cant. It is left to the wity detective to. he does, it's in an obvios place. In a stack of papers. He swiftly replaces it with a blanksheet and returns the letter to its owner.
