tiller attachments for early 60's Gravely?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I recently got an early 60's Gravely with a snowblower and plow attachment for the can't refuse deal of free. As I understand it, Gravely is no longer in business. I am interested in someday getting a tiller attachment but do not know where to find one. Does anyone know if there is another make of atachments that would work with the pto of a Gravely? Or if there is a resource of used Gravely attachments? thanks

Would you believe Just yesterday lost the Gravley address when I cleaned my bookmarks. Use your search engine for gravley, and you will get a bunch of hits. I think there is a discussion group, as well as several places where you can buy parts. WOW! You really hit the jackpot! They built those suckers to last and to be most adaptable!

Paul: Gravely company is alive and well, now owned by Airens from Brillion Wisconsin. And they still make them but with a Kohler engine. By the sounds of things you have an L model with the Gravely engine.

Theres at least one Gravely discussion group at Yahoo and probably others.

As to the tillers, they made a cultivator, designed to cultivate only about 4" deep and a rotary plow. I'd choose the plow because it will work the earth down to 18" if you wanna go that deep. Its great for hilling and ditching too. In fact, theres also a post hole auger that uses the same gear head, but has a longer stem than the rotary plow. These machines are HEAVY DUTY, built to last. Taken care of it should give you many years of service. There are zillions of attachments for them too. I have several of them. Some were "haul it away" and the others I paid for.

My son had a Gravely tractor when he was a young teenager..he is now 27. He sold the tractor many years ago but there is a plow-type attachment that is still here. If you want it you can have it. It is in good shape. Contact me if you are interested. Layne
