Brister might get back into Broncos' saddle

Pioneer Press

---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- FROM STAFF AND NEWS SERVICE REPORTS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- A season after leaving the Broncos for the Vikings, quarterback Bubby Brister might be heading back to Denver. Brister met with Mike Shanahan this week and patched up the differences that followed the coach's decision to start Brian Griese ahead of Brister two seasons ago. Brister is a free agent after a season with the Vikings. Lacina hopeful: With guard Jeff Hartings signing a six-year, $24.25 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Vikings free-agent guard Corbin Lacina expects the market at his position to open up next week. Lacina said he expects to make two team visits next week. Although he declined to identify the clubs, it is believed the Arizona Cardinals are among the interested teams. Meanwhile, left tackle Todd Steussie reported no progress in talks with the Vikings. Steussie noted there is still time -- his $1 million roster bonus is due March 15 -- but that the Vikings ``hold the cards more than I do.'' There is still a chance the Vikings might swallow Steussie's enormous cap number -- roughly $7.4 million -- like they did last season with defensive tackle John Randle. * The Vikings re-signed tight end Matt Cercone. -- Sean Jensen,
