Studio strobe sync problems...?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

As many of you read back in January, I had some problems getting studio strobes to fire with an old sync cord. After purchasing a new heavy duty PC to Household cord I thought the problem had disappeared... NOPE! I had problems getting the strobes to fire again. Has anyone had this problem with their 67II? I wonder if my 67II needs repair to the PC connection or something? I'm also wondering if Pentax makes some kind of an adapter to hookup a household to PC cord to the 5P socket on the 67II. Or, maybe even a household to 5P cord!

Regards, Randy

Randy- I've had the same problem intermittently. Trying a different sync cord has always taken care of the problem- at least to finish the shoot. Kinda a pain to have to always have several sync cords around. Must just be something finiky in the 67II sync contacts.

I've had the same problem intermittently for 20 years and it has occurred with every camera I own.

I used to keep a supply of sync cords because they seemed to be so fragile. I have a coiled chord (don't know mfg.) that's been flawless for the last 12 years on 2 different Fujis, 2 P67's, a Mamiya 645 and a view camera.

I'm NOT a sync cord expert and I don't know this for a fact by any means but I suspect the problem is with the cord(s).
