That would be alot of fun to build. Hooking up a 350 chevy to an I- beam and letting it fall onto a peice of wood, ah raw power

I don't know, sounds like a great challenge but a physical one at that. I like to burn fire wood so I'd like for them to do this challenge in my front yard, but how do you measure the winner? The first team to stack three cords of wood wins. You're going to kill a lot of geeks off that way, they will be dropping dead with heart attacks.

You limit the time of the contest 5-20 min, preventing heart attacks and over exertion. We use wedges driven by cylinders or screws to split logs, precut into sections of about 24-36 inches long. The logs are placed on their sides on a flat stable surface, usually an I- beam, and the wedge is driven into the end. Repeat the above until you have the size of stove wood you want.

No...make the challenge a CHALLENGE!

The machine must split AND stack the wood. or Make the machine cut down the tree and split the wood...

A log splitter only takes about 15 manhours to build.

It would have to be mobile, of course. Have them drive or pull it to different stations for the contest maybe all-terrain.
