Copper roof runoff and watering garden plants

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone know if using runoff from a copper roof for watering a garden would result in an unhealthy amount of copper in the plants? It seems like it wouldn't be a problem right away, but what about a buildup of copper in the soil over many years?

once the copper gets the green look (oxidized) it wont be a problem, The copper wont turn oxidize beyond that and the green wont come off in rain.

I'm no expert Deb, but I wouldn't think there'd be a problem considering how many homes have copper water pipes.

Nope - no problem in the garden. But, don't add any of that water to a pond if you have fish in it.... copper kills fish....
