If ya wanna......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

If you want to get in on the spring fling now is the time to speak up people, calls are being made to Myrtle Beach hotels, for us to be able to stay in a group the number of people who are going needs to be known, especially if we can save money as a group. So far the definites are AB,Sumer,Cin,Carlos,Carlitta,Unk amd me,as I know it.If I have erred, let me know,if you would like to be added, please, let me know,NOW.

If nothing else, those not wanting to committ absolutely, can throw their name in the hat as "mayhaps'",then,if at the last moment you decide to attend you will at least know what part of town/beach we are at.This was something we found out at LV,a close proximity is paramount, too much distance is a major pain in the ass.

The dates will fall between May 31 and June 10,there may be a $$$ savings if before June 4th,this is as narrow a window as I know right now,but calls will be made to find out any details/options/facts.

Capn: I got your email.

I will Leave Cleve on June 1st. Will arrive sometime on the 2nd and can stay a few days, 3-4 perhaps. Location, location, location?

North Beach or South? I called and have a ton of flyers coming out my way. It is a VERY narrow window and there is some type of gathering there during that time.

I think the condo idea to be a good one. I dont mind sharing space.

Sumer,

I don't mind sharing space either but the motel route is so much easier and predictable, there are the "accomodations" take care of it.In a condo situation one of us is gonna have to be responsible for everything,deposit,payment,liability,etc.. I just don't see it as viable.A group of rooms at the same place with everyone paying their own way is what makes sense to moi.

From what I am finding out south beach is better,a little more laid back and closer to the airport,IF,we want to go to a nightlife kinda thang we can all chip in on a taxi.

Sounds good, so HOTEL then? I like that idea better anyway.

Confirm then: SOUTH beach? Date of arrival for the rest? Anything firmed up yet?

Let me know via email if you got anything firm yet. South beach it is then. I did speak w/a woman yesterday who said south is closer to airport and here we thought north was?:-(

Anything firmed up yet?

Yes, but I can't talk about it here, it's private.

LOL...baaaaaaad uncle, keep that 'up' and YOU 'may' get that new car yet for yer birthday. :-)

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), March 04, 2001.

Actually, all kidding aside, I must sadly add my name to the 'maybe' list, sorry guys.

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), March 04, 2001.

Couple of questions, capn...

1) Have you yet outlawed politics as a topic of discussion for the duration of the Wild Wild West Tour 2001? (Or, if not outlawed, will the hotel be providing Security personnel?)

2) Is it too late to rule out Temptation Island as the destination of the Wild Wild West Tour 2001?

LOL CD,

Naw I just figured I'd bring the antique dueling pistols, value added entertainment.

Temptation Island was all booked up : \

Uh....unk? The maybe list?

-- (cin@cin.cin), March 04, 2001.

Yes, at this time my status is maybe, but I'm working on it...

Unk, I read your last quote on the quote thread. Are you and your wife having troubles? Is that why you're not going?

-- (We @ll would.like to know), March 05, 2001.

The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it.

The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.

OK, that's my last quote on the quote thread, now, where would you get the idea that I have marital problems from reading that quote?

BTW, no, my marriage is just great, y'all should be as lucky as I am. As to that "maybe" status, it results from having to do a lot of travel in a short period, I will keep anyone who gives a shat informed if things 'firm' up one way or the other.

I'm sorry Unk. I should pay closer attention. I was looking at this You don't die of a broken heart, you only wish you did. March 03, 2001. I just got a little worried about you. I'm glad I read too much into that!

-- (We @ll would.like to know), March 05, 2001.

I for one would like to know about every time things "firm up" for you unk. Details please =0P

With regard to dueling weaponry, can anyone identify what television character proposed "feather dusters at forty paces."

Cin,

Two words....................... "Ring Bologna"

David,

Musta slipped my mind, but you do have me curious now.

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), March 06, 2001.

capn', the line is from this episode of The Avengers. Steed makes the suggestion when asked to choose the weapons for a duel he is forced to take part in.

Another line I remember from that episode is in an early scene, where Mrs. Peel pays a visit to Cartney in the service of a charitable cause, but her real mission was to investigate him. She says, "I'm here to appeal to you, Mr. Cartney." His reply, "You certainly do that!!"

I just took a look at airfares to Myrtle Beach from the three major airports here and all I can say is...OUCH. Don't know if I'll be able to swing it, especially since I just found out that my truck is going to need some work done. I will try but I can't promise. =0(
