Where is the former home of Sen. David Broderick who was killed in a duel in 1859?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

A local casting company recently contacted me about portraying Senator David Broderick in a TV re-enactment of his famous duel in 1859 at Lake Merced, San Francisco. I'm not sure if the filming will still happen, but it was supposed to have also been at Broderick's old home. I read up a little on this guy on the web, but I'm still curious where this home is located since none of the webpages mentioned it. Where did Broderick live?

Finding an exact location or address might be difficult. In David A. Williams book "David C. Broderick, A Political Portrait" he states that in the early years after his arrival in San Francisco, David Broderick "made his home at the residence of his friends, Tom and Emma Maguire from 1849 to 1854. Thereafter, he lived in one of the better hotels and took his meals at any one of a dozen restaurants".

Later the author goes on to say that while Broderick owned a tremendous amount of real estate in San Francisco, the exact location of his own residence was known only to his closest friends.

The David A. Williams book is the most detailed and thouroughly researched account of David Broderick's life that I have yet come across. I can't help feeling that the answer you seek may have died with Broderick and his friends.
