Voter registration

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Diversity coalitions : One Thread

You can register in person up to 10 days before the onteora election. I have some mailin forms. But they should be sent in at least 20 days before the election There seems to be some confusion about absentee votes. I'l chase it down.

I hope people are getting their people lists together.

Perhaps we can have some sidewalk tables to for our candidates with registration cards for people to fill out and we can mail.

Ballots for absentee voters will be sent out from the Onteora Central School District Office by Wendy Stefano, NOT by the Ulster County Board of Elections.

The procedure is to notify Wendy at the OCS office of the need for an absentee ballot and she then sends an application to the person or they can fill it out in person at the OCS office. Once she receives the filled-out application, she will then send the absentee ballot, once they are available, to the absentee voter.

Wendy Stefano is Hal Rowe's administrative assistant and can be reached at the OCS district office during business hours at 657-8851.

It turns out that the school board election is run by the school brd. the only function of the brd of elections is to supply the school brd with a list of valid voters if you are not registered with the brd of elections you cannot vote. You can and must register 25 days before the school brd election. you must register with the brd of elections not the school. Absente ballots must be obtained for the school brd. I do not know how soon before the election the absente ballot must arrive.

The absentee ballot must be mailed back or returned to the district clerk's office no later than 5pm on May 15, 2001.
