Re: How to add new mpegs to already created Video CD?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi fellow VCD freeks,

I appreciate responses from turk690 and rich. From a certain point of view it makes sense. But... Primo: Saving on CDRs is not a real issue. Secundo: Why not saving?.We create so much garbage and so little is recycled. Tertio: It is more a matter of convenience. Say, I would like to create a Video CD dedicated to a certain subject and collection of material takes months. Should I and my who-ever-they-are be prevented from watching what I already produced on TV screen and not producing waste? Maybe there are other softwares more capable to answere my needs? The floor is open. Please contribute.

In your case I would use a CD-RW disk and add the new stuff when needed. It's rather convenient when you use the blanking of the TOC only instead off erasing the RW-disk each time in total. Once you have your final product you could then burn a CD-R disk. I use this method in all of the cases such as you mentioned in your Tertio remark.

Friendly greetings, Eppo

This is actually a response to Eppo.

I don't know about VCD players, but with regular Audio CD's, you can't play CD's burned onto CD-RWs in a regular CD player. You need a special CD player designed to be able to recognize the slightly different CD-RW format.

This true, but we were talking about VideoCD's te be displayed on a TV-screen using either a DVD, a VCD or a CDi player.

About CD-RW, these are my experiences.

Alexander is right, no audio CD machine player can play CD-RW discs.

As for VCD and audio CD, only modern PC CDROM drives and CD-RW burners can play CD-RW discs.

As for VCD, only some DVD/VCD machine players can play CD-RW discs, and no VCD machine player can play CD-RW discs.
