(How to Store) Vegetable Oil

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone have a really good, ingenius, wonderful, workable way of storing cooking oil? I buy it in bulk and pour it into a glass jar, seem reasonable to me. But no matter how I've tried, I still have an oily mess. I put the jar on a plastic ice cream bucket lid, and it still ends up on the shelf and I wipe the jar off after I use it. I don't get it.

I put all containers containing liquids be it oil, vinegar, syrup or what have you, on a coaster of sorts and that keeps the stuff off the cupboard shelves. I use plastic covers from margarine tubs, oatmeal boxes and other containers for coasters. Keeps me out of excessive messes!

I buy in bulk and refill the smaller jars. I have the same problem, no matter how careful, it seems to get all over, till my microwave died. I use the tray that was in there, and put everything ojn that, the glass is real easy to clean up.

Wine bottles and corks. No problems yet. The bottles are designed not to drip.

I agree, Soni. I use the same thing and no mess.

This really won't help you! I buy Wesson Corn Oil in the 48 ounce bottles. It says right up front that it won't drip. It doesn't!
