New theories for planet positiongreenspun.com : LUSENET : Astronomical_Calculations : One Thread |
I want to know if there is a newer theory than VSOP87 for calculating planet position whitout integration (DE400 wouldn't work) that is as accurate (o better) than this. Thank you in advance.

I'm no expert on theories at the high precision end, but I think Francou and Chapront did a series for about a century either side of J2000.0 as a smaller series with higher accuracy. A couple of Web references might help...http://www.projectpluto.com/accuracy.htm#planetary
and
ftp://cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr/pub/cats/VI/87/
might help. Personally, I do the quick and dirty stuff at the arcmin accuracy.
