Why not build a .......greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread |
Really enjoy the show. After submarines and hovercraft, I'm starting to believe these crews can do anything. So how about ultralight aircraft? If that seems too dangerous, how about a sailboat relay race? If you've ever seen a novice trying out their new toy on the water, you know just how hilarious that show could be. Even beter, a catamaran race where the entire crew must sail a triangular course, (downwind run, upwind beat, across the wind reach)

One of the previous Brit series had the teams build "flying" devices that one team member "flew". One was a hang-glider affair, while the other was a bodged up fixed wing. The teams had the option of using a whinch to help get airborne. It was quite amusing to watch - I guessing here but I think the longest flight was about 12 secs. Also in a previous challenge, the teams built land yaughts (sp?) that raced a course that saw them having to catch the wind from all sides. All four team members were required to ride.
Cheers,

the flying devises were fun to watch. i'm sure seeing a team of amatures trying to sail a makeshift sail boat would be just as fun. however the roar of a loud worn out engine would be greatly missed.
