dark metol

I went to buy metol but I found only dark metol (oxidized?). It was so cheap so I bought it. Is it gonna work? Should I have to increase the amount of metol in the formula (fx-1) to compansate?

How dark is it? I've seen it turn a beige color and still work fine.

I have two bottles of Metol, one of them is at least 30 years old [Elon] the other at least 20 years, the colour hasn't been an issue as I really don't know what colour it really should be. Both are excellent. I've been told Metol is a very stable chemical if stored in a dark dry well sealed bottle.

Hey Steve, what color is that metol you have?

I know it's gonna work, but the formula (for FX-1) says 5 gm- i don't know if I should make it 7 gm or 5 or whatever.

You are going to have to test it. Shoot some test rolls and mix some up with 5 grams, and see what happens. If the negs are thin, try more. If that does help, toss it.
