swamp buggies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

good morning, from( the test tank babies)how about swamp buggies, frame style vehicals, with powerfull engines and tall skinny tires desighned to race threw a water/mud filled pit two to three feet deep and about 20 to 30 yards long oh yeh the mud gets deeper as they reach the other side, making it harder to progress, possibly not making it across at all, left there stuck in the middle, covered in mud. each team gets four tries, quickest time wins. see you soon, the test tank babies.

This sounds like fun. If we do this one I drive! I'll put enough extra weight in the buggy that we'll have the best traction. In this case WEIGHT is a good thing.

actually, in this case joey......tire speed is the objective!..faster tire speed=faster vehicle speed=a hydroplane effect...I.E. ..the vehicle essentially skimming across the surface!..less chance to get mired in the goo!

Not with the amount of weight I would be putting on the back axle! While they would be spinning, I'd be at the finish line! ;-)

We use to do this sort of thing in Ohio...One of the most important factors (no snickering?) is your buggy length. The longer the better...
