Freight train derails near Quebec City No injuries reported
SAINT-ETIENNE-DE-LAUZON, Que. (CP) -- A freight train loaded with grain derailed Thursday morning with about 24 cars jumping the tracks.
The cause of the derailment wasn't yet known and there were no injuries, Radio-Canada's all-news channel RDI reported.
People who live in the community, south of Quebec City, reported hearing the train sound its whistle several times before the accident happened about 8:30 a.m., RDI said.
The train's destination was Quebec City and was coming from Ontario.
Passenger service was interrupted. Passengers on a train travelling to Montreal had to continue their journey on buses.
