KVA required to spot weld aluminum

What kva is required for spot welding 3000 and 5000 series aluminum with a 1/4" total thickness? Any other info or advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

According to my experience, 150KVA 3 phase low frequency welding machine will give you good quality. I think you can get same quality with mid. frequency inverter welding machine, but you have to pay more then 3 phase low frequency, also maintenance and troubleshooting cost is higher then mid. frequency. I hope this will refer to you.

You can not determine the KVA required without answering some other basic questions. What is the weld current and time required to weld this alloy and thickness? What does the machine look like ( The calculated Impedance )? What is the production rate required? Short cut answerrs are typically much more expensive than doing the engineering.
