Trying to ID artist of a particular statue

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Art Deco Society of Washington : One Thread

I was wondering if someone could help me to identify a particular artist of the Art Deco period. The piece I am interested in identifying is a statue of a woman on tiptoe with her head and upper body tilted backward and a large sphere in her outstretched hands. I am trying to determine who the original artist of this piece is, and also whether the image is copyrighted?

Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Christine

Hi Christine. I have a piece exactly like the one you are describing! As a matter of fact, I have 3 more pieces by the same artist, and I am trying desperately to find out who the artist is! I have been told that the artist is Le Verrier a 1920's sculptor who worked in bronze, but I have not be able to confirm that. Any info I find in the 'net pertains to a Max Le Verrier....and what I have been able to locate of his work does not match with my piece. Maybe you and I can work together on this and find out who the artist is . Have you had any more luck in finding the artist? Let me know and many thanks. Kathy Berkeley

Hi Christine. I researched further and was able to get some info on my pieces. Try http://perso.club-internet.fr. That is the website for the plant of Max Le Verrier! Good Luck. Kathy Berkeley
