Can anyone out there give me a date when SCL disconnected the ex ACL Intermittent Automatic Train Stop between Richmond and Waycross?

Thank you Larry. Just as I thought-SCL disconnected it before AMTRAK! Now I can start to finish the great(???) Train Control article for Lines South. Anyone out there who has any information on thiis topic or anything about SAL's tests with cab signals between denmark and Savannah or its planned train control/cab signal system, give me a holler!

The last SCL employee timetables to mention ATS and the 90 mph speed limit were the April 1970 issues. The speed limit was 79, and ATS was not mentioned, in the Dec. 11, 1970, issues.

Thanks, Vic, but, I believe the date was much later than that. As of 1966, ACL was still running 90 mph, which required that the train stop system be operational. Based upon what I have seen so far, the date should be some time around 1971. For those who have access to SCL ETT's from 1968-69-70-71-72. Look up the maximum speed for passenger trains on the ex A line between Richmond and Waycross. Once the maximum permitted speed drops from 90 to 79-then the ATS was disconnected.
