According to National Geographic magazine, scientists have solved the old dispute over which came first - the chicken or the egg. Reptiles were laying eggs thousands of years before chickens appeared. The first chicken to hatch from an egg was laid by a bird that was not quite, evolutionarily speaking, a chicken. Final answer: The egg came first.

Actually, the chicken (or lizard) clearly came first, as eggs need to be incubated to hatch.

And, for whatever it's worth, science (through the use of modern recording technology) has definitely determined that if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, it does indeed make a sound.
