Tug of war

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

I dunno about you guys but i thought the tug of war/ power pullers was a great idea! Pulling eachother beats pulling weights too.... The only thing is... why did they choose to have the copetition on such loose gravel? both vehicles had little traction... maybe that was to even out the competition a little... just in case..

It looked to me like there was gravel spread on top of ashphalt. The tires didn't grind in far enough to be gravel, and there was to much smoke. All made for good viewing though...

the competetion surface may have been deliberate, in case welds or the chain holding the rigs together broke!.....the less than stellar surface might have been considered so as to give the drivers a split second to get the rigs shut down should there have been such a failure. other wise they may get away too soon!...i didnt see what i would consider a braking system in use, that i would want to be using should one of those rigs get away!....just a thought
