CLINTON LIBRARY FUNDS DIVERTED TO COVER NYC OFFICE RENT; DONORS NOT TOLD

The unprecedented $300,000-a-year subsidy former President Bill Clinton has offered to help rent a penthouse office on fashionable 57th Street in New York City will come from tax-exempt donations intended to build and endow his presidential library in Little Rock, the WASHINGTON TIMES is reporting in Page Ones on Tuesday.

The unique arrangement, announced to end criticism of renting luxury offices that cost more than those of all other living former presidents combined, was not described to potential donors of the Clinton Presidential Foundation, who were asked to build the presidential library. The New York rent subsidy may run afoul of complex regulations of the Internal Revenue Service and Arkansas charities watchdogs.

Skip Rutherford, a longtime Clinton associate who is unpaid president of the Arkansas-based foundation, yesterday defended using donations for the library and museum to pay office rent estimated at $650,000 a year because Mr. Clinton will wear more than one hat there.

And yet, you keep posting it, Sludge keeps drudging it, the MRC keeps "investigating" it, WorldNutDaily keeps circulating it, NewsMax keeps plagiarizing it.....

You see a pattern here?

You see a pattern here?

I sure do. Clinton really is a scumbag with not one moral or ethical bone in his body.

You don't like them? How about the Washington Times? I see they didn't make your 'unreliable sources list', or will they now be added because they to report something you wish would go away...THE TRUTH!

For the umpteenth time.....The Washington Times is owned by the Unification Church.

Surely you know who they are, dontcha?

Yea...and your point is?

You continue to attack the sources and provide NO PROOF the STORY to be untrue!

Do YOU/ see a pattern here?

As Sgt. Friday would say..."Just the facts Maam!"

Give it a try would ya?

-- Ain't Gonna Happen (Not Here Not@ever.com), February 06, 2001.

That would be "ma'am".

The, ahem, "facts" aren't worth addressing; and neither are you :-)

From what I've seen Patricia, you've NEVER let the little things like FACTS get in your way when arguing your case.

Lets see, they are using some of their funds to pay for an office to organize a Presidential library. Well at least we finally get some info on why formers even need offices.

Still wonder why Gerald Ford needs an office though.

Or Reagan, for that matter.

-- Tarzan the Ape Man (tarzan@swingingthroughthejunglewithouta.net), February 06, 2001.

Tarz, Reagan's office houses the GOP Faxlist used by WindinyourpantsDaily, Sludge, Newsucks, MoonieTimes and the like to get the good word out everyday to the memes.

This a 3rd grader could tell you is an appropriate use of 300k ayear of taxpayer money, don't ya agree?

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many papers.....so little time to post!

-- Ain't Gonna Happen (Not Here Not@ever.com), February 06, 2001.

Breaking from my word momentarily.....

Someone (you?) should tell Sludge that the "$300,000" is NOT "unprecedented". First of all, it's $285,000. Secondly, it's the exact same amount being paid for Ronald Reagan's office.

Now tell me, genius, how much and how often do you think that 90-year-old, Alzheimer's-stricken Ronald Reagan USES that publicly-subsidized office? And will we, **the tax-paying public**, continue to subsidize the entire amount next year when the price increases to $356,000? (BTW, you should read the drivel you post -- the Reagan office-increase is right there in the NY Post article.)

Funny.....I don't remember seeing you post any Sludge, NY Post or other headlines decrying this potential waste of **taxpayer money**.

Hmmmm.....one has to wonder whether the fact that the offices for the former Presidents are taxpayer-funded is the real problem here. Could it be that you, like so many of the Rush Crowd, are going through Clinton C*ck Withdrawal?

Now do get back to me when the reality of your selective reasoning and your blatant hypocrisy hits you.

Patricia:

Gotta agree with you here. First, we are talking insignificantly trivial amounts here. Second, Clinton will surely make better use of his post-presidency official office than Reagan does. Hell, we paid Nixon $400K a year after Ford pardoned him, and that was back when $400K was real money.

This counts as one of those silly issues used to fill space, when folks like Drudge are scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for just any old target on which to vent their indignation. And I personally think it would be pretty damn cheezy for the nation NOT to provide well for our ex-presidents. Nearly all of them come away from the experience looking like death warmed over. They've earned it.

Stop the world -- we agree!

Seriously, I have noticed that every President looks "vibrant" as he takes Office -- and then ages like twenty years no matter how long he spent in the Office.

It's a job I don't think I want.

-- (PatriciaS@lasvegas.com), February 06, 2001.

And to the benefit of all hard working Americans, a job you will not be doing.

-- Barry (bchbear863@cs.com), February 06, 2001.

LOL -- wow, great comeback, Barry. Did you think of that all by yourself?

-- (PatriciaS@lasvegas.com), February 06, 2001.

Ah, not exactly…..how did you guess?
