I want to but a 420 EX for my Elan II, any compatibililty issue with Elan II and the NEW 420EX so far?

There shouldn't be any problems at all. Most compatability problems have been between newer Canon bodies and older non-Canon lenses. There have been a few isolated incompatibility reports with non-Canon flashes as well, but not with Canon made flashes.
