Does the team to need to secure sponsors to help with expenses? What else does the team win besides the trophy?

The TV company picks up the expenses. There is no other prize. Contestants are paid a small appearance fee. Consultants are paid.

5 minutes of fame (er.. more like 45 minutes, per episode)

The kiss from cathy would be worth it alone! =)

It was definitely worth missing a weeks work to appear on the jYW. I would go back in a blink. It was the ultimate redneck vacation! We all won a special set of memories of a great country and a group of very special people.

I'll second that!!! When we knew we got picked to go and compete in this outraegous event, we added up the time it would take just in case we were to make it all the way to the finals. That was 25 days. We took off that amount time, being self employed artists. We knew if we got bumped off in the early rounds, we would have a splendid vacation. It was great! We would film for three days on an episode and then have 5 days off to check out the country by train. We miss all the crew and friends we met in London. We've been in contact and will be visiting the set this round in LA. It's about a 15 hour drive from the top of the state where we reside.....Can't wait to see the gang on JYW...... We wanted to sign up again, but TLC has so many applications that they want all new teams.
