Hoot Loves! [Christian Material]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I love: Fresh mowed grass, hay and especially sweet clover. I love the beauty of Almighty Gods' Creation! Frogs, birds, trees and especially flowers! I love the smell of fresh "broken" dirt of an early spring garden. The smell of tomato plants, blooms of a green been plant, onions and mint. Lilac bushes, roses and a host of other creations of His beauty! I love little guys/gals. The smell of a newborn is out of this world. The baby powder reminds me of our two boys [now grown men] when they were little tikes. Honeysuckle, pine trees, cedar trees and roses of Sharon. Easter Lilys with there sweet pungent odor is probably the most loved smells of spring for me. I love to see the Mighty hand of Almighty God when people are obedient to His calling and He blesses them with almost unbelievable good things. The saving of a lost soul, the handshake or hug of a good friend. I love prosperity that can be used to tell others of the love of Jesus Christ or to help my fellow man in times of need. We are starting the paperwork now for our new ministry of helps. "In His Hands" is the name He gave to me about 4 years ago. Its' time to get movin on it--NOW!! We'll be providing food, clothing and other necessities of life to those who are less fortunate than we are. We will also be accepting help at a later date for this project. I love to see the smiles of a little child as they are cuddled and hugged by loving parents who realize just what Almighty God has blessed them with. These are just some of my delights. What about some of yours? "Thank you Lord for your blessings. May we not squander this opportunity to serve You and our fellow man". Matt.24:44

I love the smell after a rainstorm. I love to take the socks off of tiny babies and look at their toes..so tiny and amazing. I love seeing kids smile when they have no front teeth. I love to hear children laughing and breathless from playing. I love to see the new calves in the spring wobbling around next to mom and then a week later bouncing around the pasture. I love the smell of homemade bread and the look on my kids faces when I take out the first loaves. I love sitting on a stump out in the woods and listening to the silence other than the squirrels rustling leaves. I love wading in a shallow swift moving creek. I love seeing elderly couples still holding hands. I love to see what masterpiece painting God will make out of the sunset. I love the endless stream of questions my children come up with because it means they are bright and blessedly normal. I could go on and on. God gave us so very many wonderful things to enjoy! I especially love my savior.

I love the smell of an old-fashioned Iris, I love eating sweet peas right in the garden, I love the shadows on my garden, early on a summer morning, from a beautiful sunrise, I love the warm wind blowing as I stand and look at the mountains from my front yard, I love picking still warm tomatoes for lunch, I love when the wild daises are out all the way up the driveway, I love a hot shower and fresh sheets to lay down on after a hard days work, I love my puppies that are so excited every morning just to see me, I love watching really old home movies, I love the laughter that fills the room when all my brothers and sisters get together and the look on my parents faces, I love getting up early and having a hot cup of coffee, it's so quiet and the day is still full of promise.

I love the feel on my neck when a little goat kid tries to nestle, the look on my grandchildren's faces when they feel a new bunny or find a nest of eggs. The sound of the wind wispering in the white pines around my garden. The smell of the tomato bushes when I pick a tomato. The happy song of the bluebirds on a sunny day in January. The sound of leaves rustling under my feet on a walk through the woods on a fall day. The quiet morning sunrises when I am in fellowship with my Lord.

Thankyou all for a good start today. It helps if the day starts on a positive note. I've got a busy day running around ahead of me. I will try to focus on these things when I'm stuck in traffic later in Louisville this afternoon.

I love the silhouette of a barn against a beautiful sunset. I love praise and worship, being saved, a baby's giggle, listening to the chickens "singing" to themselves. I love stacking wood, being outside when it's about 40* and clear, the smell of new mown grass and wild onions, swinging on the porch swing, cooking breakfast outside, listening to meadowlarks, finding the first seedlings breaking through the dirt, sunflower houses, my husband, listening to my husband sing, the sky when it's the bluest, the moon when it's super big and looks like it's sitting on the earth. I love hearing the corn stalks swaying on a warm fall evening before the weather changes, snowflakes, the smell of wood burning especially on a rainy day, learning, confident Christians, strong godly men, homesteading, making soap, where the sky meets the land with no trees or buildings in the way, kittens playing, chickens pecking the ground, baby goats, sneaking up on a cat:~},Making things myself, the privilege of prayer, TREES, rag dolls, books, Oh my, there's so much more. Thank you God for all these blessings and thank you Hoot for posting this thread.

I love my family-warts and all...I love watching the horses out in the pasture in the summer, when the dapples in their coats glimmer in the sun...I love waking up in the morning under a homemade quilt all snuggly and warm...I love the smell of woodsmoke while I'm walking out to do chores on a cold winter morning...I love the sound of the animals when I first walk into the barn...I love the fact that the horses will come in at a gallop when I whistle...I love that my children aren't as jaded as most of their friends and can still be amazed by simple things...I love it when Fiona the naughty Nubian nibbles on my chin...Most of all I love my life in the country.

-- Stacy Rohan (KincoraFarm@aol.com), February 02, 2001.

I enjoy most all the things listed above, only thing I could add, sitting in the band gazebo by our old train depot, tellin' "lies"(fishing adventures, etc.) over a game of fox n hound checkers and watching trains pass by, the slower, the better.

Have ya'll noticed that it is easier to come up with the things that you love.........? Look how many more posts are on the positive side!

-- Nan (davidl41@ipa.net), February 02, 2001.

Snuggling with a warm Hubby, the sweet curve of a baby's cheek where it meets the neck (a very nice kissing spot!), the smell of a clean, healthy puppy. The way a classroom full of kids' eyes light up when they finally "get it!" The way that the grey and lavander of the sky meet the grey winter hills, and everything begins to glow as the sun comes up on the way to work. Laughing with good friends, and GOING CAMPING! (thinking of that makes me more cheerful, all winter!)

-- Leann Banta (thelionandlamb@hotmail.com), February 02, 2001.

I love the smell of the forest after a rain, a soft golden dawn, when every bit of moisture in the air is reflecting the glow of the sun and the smell of jasmine just barely brushes the air. The sound of a creek over rocks, puppy breath, the smell of fresh baked bread....the look on a little kid's face when they realize that the drum they are hitting is capable of a lot more than making a loud satisfying bang and you witness the magic of recognition of MUSIC in their eyes...amazing!

There's too much...I could go on forever. Thanks for this, Hoot. It sure put a smile on my face!

p.s. who sings that old song anyhow? the one that says 'I love little baby pups, coffee in a cup, whiskey when it's old and you. I love you too.' If anybody can think of who this artist is , let me know as I would like to hear that song again.

-- Trendle ellwood (trendlespin@msn.com), February 03, 2001.

Hi Trendle, I think that was Charlie Pride. It was one of my favorite songs when I was a chlid, my dad used to sing it to us. I can only remember the verse that says "I love little baby ducks" now. Guess I got old :-(

-- Julie (julieamc@excite.com), February 03, 2001.

Hey Trendle! It was Tom T. Hall that sang that song. I'm not sure about the name but think it was "I Love". "Old pickup trucks" was a line.I'll see if'n I can find it and will post the words if I can. hoot. Matt.24:44

Thanks Hoot!!! As I was scrolling down through the replies, it made my eyes kinda misty. Course, I've noticed that happens more as I grow older. These post's have brought back an enormous flood of memories for me, and as I read each of them, I realize just how much my Father has blessed me in my life. Living most of my days in the country, so many of the things y'all have mentioned are memories for me also.

I love the love of a loving and merciful God. I love the way my wife still looks at me, even after all these years. I love my sisters, who have brightened many a day, and shared many a tear. I love having the world's best parents who raised us younguns right, teaching by example, God bless'em. I love life. I love geese flying overhead on their way to warmer climes in the fall. I love to feel freshly turned soil beneath my toes in the spring, and the smell of the garden in the summer. I love the smell of woodsmoke on the cold winter nights when I step out on the porch to take it all in again before I go to bed. I love to snuggle up to my wife, and to feel her heart beating as I drift off to sleep. I love my church family, who love and care for us like we were their own kin. I love the feel of a fish pulling on my line. I love to come in from cold after feedin up, to a warm house and the smell of my wife's cooking.

Thanks again all who responded to this post, and that you Hoot. I will be glad to get to meet you when we get to heaven!! Uncle Jake

-- Uncle Jake (lulafred@cs.com), February 03, 2001.

Life is good, with its ups and its downs. The smell of the woods after a rain, frog fest in the spring, lilacs in bloom, lovin kindness in daily life, truth---whereever you find it, the sound of geese migrating and the whip-poor-will on a warm summer nite.

Hoot, I like your "We are starting the paperwork now for our new ministry of helps. "In His Hands" is the name He gave to me about 4 years ago. Its' time to get movin on it--NOW!! We'll be providing food, clothing and other necessities of life to those who are less fortunate than we are." Sounds to me like it might be a good candidate for the faith based social programs GW is proposing.

That my son didn't hate me when I broke his leg, Watching the kids when they don't know, Watching the wife when she sleeps, Nature undisturbed, Any and all babies, Innoccence, Wood Stove when it is cold outside, Being married, Having no debt, Our farm,,,,,,

-- Tom (Calfarm@msn.com), February 04, 2001.

I love to sing my version of the song to my 2 year old (and she has learned it and sings it back to me) and her 4 year old sister. My version goes like this (because she likes puppies and trucks) I love little baby pups, old pick-up trucks and I love you too.

The song is by Tom T. Hall and here are the real lyrics...

I LOVE

I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain I love little country streams, sleep without dreams, Sunday school in May, and hay And I love you too

I love leaves in the wind, pictures of my friends, birds in the world, and squirrels I love coffee in a cup, little fuzzy pups, bourbon in a glass, and grass And I love you too

I love honest open smiles, kisses from a child, tomatoes on the vine, and onions I love winners when they cry, losers when they try, music when it's good, and life And I love you too
