I think a solar powered oven would be interesting , the two teams could build it and then cook a pie in it. The winner should be the teem who doesn't burn their pie and is good enough to eat.

A challenge for a junk yard war series should be to build a battling robot. Two teams should compete and the one left functioning at the end wins. Making an oven does NOT excite the people that I know who watch the show.
