How much weight are you suppose to be able to carry while climbing a mountain?

On alpine day climbs, I very seldom carried more than 10 kgs (22 lbs) during the climb itself. This weight can easily double during the approach, particularly when camping. 25kgs (55 lbs) seems the upper limit for climbing, but one could think of ferrying larger loads.
