Why not make a bobsled and run it on a fairly simple course?

It's a cool idea (so to speak), but suffers from the same problem that all the snow/ice challenges do. It requires a really cold climate for the competition site, and the set for the TV show is (has been) in London, which is much too mild for reliable snow and ice. If you move the show to a reliably cold climate (such as Lake Placid or Minneapolis or Saskatoon) you run into major logistical problems shooting the build. As long as the show is in either London or California, snowmobiles, bobsleds, and the like are pretty unlikely. Remember, the show has a set, just line any other TV series. Shooting it somewhere other than the prepared set adds a lot to the cost.

(If they shoot Series 5 in Southern California they could usually find snow a couple of hours away in the San Bernardino mountains in the winter, but I'm pretty sure -- actually I am absolutely sure -- that there are no bobsled runs there. Actually, if they aren't shooting within the next four weeks, they can probably kiss SoCal snow good-bye anyway.)

Wouldn't 10 hours be a bit long to build a Bobsled?

The BoBsleigh does not have to be on runners. It can be on wheels, solving the problem of climate.

Bobsledding all you have to do to have a bobsled is find a smooth piece of medal and slide down a stinking hill
