You have to get rid of that miserable US host. He really stinks. I can't even bear to watch the show to the end when he's hosting. Give it back to the Brits, they know what they're doing and they have a good sense of humor. They make the show better. And more watchable.

Everyone needs to quit mistaking a British accent for humor and intelligence. So many people think that a joke told in an American accent is less funny than the same joke told in a British accent. This is a perfect example, because George and Robert are almost carbon copies of each other with different accents. THE JOKES ARE THE SAME, THE ACCENTS ARE THE ONLY DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have to agree, Robert is a much better host. Regardless of which nationalites are competing, the show is better WITH him, than without. Another vote for his return.

We love the old British shows - they used real junk, and Robert is the best. Go back to the old style - finding rocket motors and other items so obviously planted in the garbage - it just isn't the spirit of the junkyard any more. I vote to go back to the junkyard roots!

You will hate some of the upcoming episodes then -- next week they find some fine tractor tires, (the production crew was helpfull and removed all axles that came anywhere close to having the right bolt circle) and the last show of the season is rockets, with planted high power engines.

I, too, agree that this stuff is getting too easy. Bear in mind that I could only dream of putting together such contraptions, but the new show reminds me of a snap-together model set; you don't have to shape or cut the parts, they're just all there and you put 'em together. Where's the fun in that. MAke the teams go old school and and make the parts themselves, not "oh look, I just happened to find a 1/32 working replica of a NASA rocket... what are the odds?" Also, get rid of the new host. He's funny like Jim Carrey is funny, but Cable Guy funny, and that's just not right.

I've taped all of Series 3 and Series 4, and am now taping Series 1. I discovered JYW/SC in Series 2 and stupidly did not start recording it right away. My sons and I have watched every episode at least twice. When you do this, you notice things.

The "planted" stuff in the yard was there from the very first show (that nice nylon rope someone mentioned, for example). I didn't notice the nice stuff for the first few shows since I was so impressed with the whole thing, but once you start looking for it, it's in every episode. The nostalgia for the "good old days" (which were, what, 1999?) is amusing, but, like most nostalgia, misplaced.

As has been said ad nauseum, the show would have less-interesting challenges if everything had to be actually procured from a real junkyard. I am not particularly interested in watching someone spend 10 hours trying to piece together a working engine, for example, and then fail to complete a machine for the challenge. The way the show works is just fine.

(For one thing, if you watch carefully, you can see, as Jeff says in his NERDS Web site, that the show is not edited in chronological order. You can catch the shadows moving forward and backwards in some sequential scenes. They edit the show to tell a story and to educate, not to rigidly document some historically important event. Did you notice that the Young Guns were edited to look like smug little snots? And Jeff (sorry) was edited to look kind of pathetic and sad in the NERDS submarine episode? The Long Brothers are portrayed as nice farm boys and the Megs and Bowser's teams as blue-collar and kind of wild? Remember, we have NO IDEA what these people are really like. It is exactly like "Survivor", all we know is what the producer, director, and editor choose to portray to us. Unless you were in the junkyard, you don't have any way to know the Truth.)

And George is a fine host. After seeing the first show of the first series, I can now tell that the producers were looking for an American Robert, and found one. Hope this helps.

We too have taped every episode. I find it amusing that the Discovery company offers to sell us a video of the preceeding episode for $19.95 - Hey Discovery! We're Gearheads! We know how to work a VCR! Anyway, to raise a sensitive issue, since the advent of George we don't even watch the show when it is broadcast, as the tape enables us to fastforward through any scene he is in. Finally, I figured out there was seeding going on when the Mothers of Invention miraculously found rolls of mylar that enabled them to make a remote control dirigible (versus Three Revs a Minute - great episode). Anyway, I love the show, they can torture me with George and I'll probably still watch, but dang, if they'd just "close [his] piehole" permanently...

Sorry but I hated Tyler Harcott ! I mean yeah , he is nice and everything , but he isn't that funny , and half the time doesn't know what he is talking about ?! i do like Robert and Goerge though . I think George should co-host most of the U.S. shows with Cathy , and then sometimes have Robert in them and the same with the British version but more Robert . The only bad part is that Tyler is probably coming back for the newer american version because George is now hosting the Weakest Link . So hopefully someday George will come back !

I really DIS-AGREE w/ most of yall. Tyler seems to add more to the show. It contrasts between the different cultures. And anyways, it's bout time for a changeIf all yall are worried about is a lousy accent, ya really need to get out more!! Plus, the fact that he's probably one of the cutest guys I've seen helps matters. He's easy on the eyes, unlike the past hosts. I'm all for keeping Tyler! ;) WHO'S W/ ME???

Funny when you go to Canada they will tell you they have a different culture. (Except for Quebec.) But if that is true, then why cannot Americans tell if Canadian is in their midst?

Tyler Harcot certainly seems as American as the guy down the block, not that I did not like the old Brit host, but Tyler does a great job as host, he is funny a seems to get along well with the staff, crew and teams.

I just wish the Canadians would shut up about their supposed different culture all while they ship show hosts, actors, comedians and news anchors south for the big bucks.

Hey, I even like the Red Green show! The only thing I can say about the difference between Canada and the US is that Canada is what the U.S. would be like without the violence, ghetto slums, and racism. Hmmm, maybe that is a different culture . . .
