TRV 900 vs. PD100A

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Shooting DV Films : One Thread

I had a TRV 900 for a year with great experience. Unfortunately it dropped into a river !! Now I need a new one. I wonder if I should switch to PD 100A. Any one has experice with the difference? Cost is not a major issue since the difference is insignificant.

I have both cameras and let me tell you the extra $$$ on the PD100 is not worth it!!! The only diference between the 2 cams (except the tape format which U and me will not benefit from and the charcoal gray color) is the extra gear. The PD100 comes with a XLR which is really bad (mono), the audio is if not as bad as the internal mic. The WIDE lens is ok but you can get the Sony 0.7X and save extra $$$. If I knew what I know now instead of a PD100 I would have bought a Canon XL1!!!
