We actually had that this season.

It was the Long Brothers vs. the Megalomaniacs. The challenge was to build a car crusher. The episode aired Christmas 2000 on TLC. Long Brothers won.

Heya Junkman,

It was the Transatlantic Championship episode-- The winner of the U.S. Junkyard Wars goes against the winners of the British Scrapheap Challenge. We Americans get to keep the Trophy for World Championship of Bodging for a year. :-)

Hopefully they will rerun that episode soon. It was aired here in the States on Christmas Day, but I have a feeling a lot of people missed the ep due to holiday travel.

Pretty detailed synopsis of the X-Atlantic Championship episode at the Channel4UK Scrapheap Challenge site too.

The car crusher episode was only aired in the UK. It was never aired in the US.

Here's the TLC schedule for December 25, 2000 so you can see for yourself, it didn't air.

Hmm...

I distinctly remember seeing a Junkyard Wars ad on TV right before I left Buffalo NY (the area was run by Adelphia Cable) for Christmas holiday travel, and it was urging viewers to tune in for the Christmas Special, complete with a short clip of the Long Brothers' hammer device going SMACK on that mini.

So we got several possibilities:

1) Either TLC's lineup changes with the provider, or

2) For a few hours while I waited for my US Air flight, I wandered into the Twilight Zone without knowing. Hmm..

I'll have to see if anyone hasn't thrown out their TV Guide around here to be sure. But chances are that it is time for me to check into the funny farm (complete with giant mowers harvesting wheat).

=) =)
