This has never been done by anyone ever with an unlimited amount of time. I seem to recall that there is a cash prize for anyone who can do it. Sally forth Einstein.

The folks at Cal Poly have been trying to build a man-powered helicopter for years. Last I knew, they were still having trouble with stability and power transmission. They were using very long rotor blades with pusher props at the blade tips.

There is a prize, something similar to one the Gossamer Condor won. It requires a takeoff, hovering for a specified period at a specified altitude, and may require manuevers although I'm not sure on that. If you can build one to fly through the required program and land again without cracking up, you win. (Assuming you can prove it.)

It would take at least two JYW teams working togather, and decide the winner by who built which parts, and what parts don't work right.

Do humans even develop enough horsepower?
