greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Alright, all you supplement/alternative health gurus out there!! I have some questions that you might possibly answer for me. Anyone of you heard (or used) any of these products? Hydroxy Appetite (calcium supplement), UltraInflamX (anti-inflammatory), or Colostrum? If you have used them; known of others that have used them; or have any knowledge of there uses, could you let me know? Always looking for something to help me with the Fibromyalgia, ya know!! Thanks! Sissy

Response to supplements?

Sissy, My wife has suffered w/ fibro for about 4-5 years. She recently began taking Guifenisen. It is an old cough med thats been around for about 100 years. Very safe med w/ little adverse side effects. Beats all the stuff the Doc had her on. She has wiened herself off all other medication.

Remarkable results so far. She has much less pain and fatigue. I don't know the name of the book she got this info from off the top of my head. I hope we didn't lose this one too in the recent move! John

I have quite a few members of my family suffering from fibromylagia. I recommend the site www.truehope.com. I think you might find the research being done on fibromylagia interesting. I am not affiliated with this company in any way, but thought you might like to know about it because our media is covering it quite regularly due to the success of the product -- EM Power. Hope this helps.

If anyone else has had any experience with EM Power I would appreciate any feedback.

Sissy, haven't used any of those, homeopathic remedies don't work for me much, but astragalus root, 3 capsules (400mg. each) three times a day was a life saver!!!Literally!!! I was at the end of my rope, so to speak, and the improvement was immediate!!! Also, and remember, this is just what works for me, your results might vary, the more meat I gave up, the less pain I had, gave up all dairy products, take cold pressed flax seed twice a day (1000mg. each), 1000mg. bioflavnoid vitamin C twice a day, 500mg. magnesuim twice a day, 500mg. calcium citrate twice a day, and several other "regular" vitamins twice a day, you can e-mail me if you have any questions, I have been researching FM and CFS for over 6 years, and have learned a lot, to say the least!!!

Hi Sissy, I agree with the guifenisen answer. I've been taking it for about 6 months and have seen remarkable improvement from my pain. It's prescription, so you have to get your doctor to agree to this trial. I found it in the book "what your doctor may not tell you about fibromyalgia" by Dr. St. Amand. It involves some lifestyle changes in order that you don't use products that block the effectivity of the Gui, but it is definitely worth it for me! Read the book and give it a try.....
