Question about Gaither song

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Are their any other Bill Gaither Homecoming fans? There is a song that they sang in "Down By The Tabernacle." I'm not sure of the name of the song but it had = "I like the old time preaching, praying, singing, shouting. I like the old time etc". Anyhow, one part of the song goes = "Years ago when Brother Boyd {or Bell or something) had old camp meeting time, how my heart would leap with joy to hear the old bells chime." My question is: What are they saying, Brother Boyd, or Bell or what and who is he? Is this the name of a real person or is it just a name they made up for the song? I've heard parts of this song all my life and I've always wondered who it was that had old camp meeing times. Thanks in advance for the answer. Eagle

Melina, You got it!!!!. On my video, they are saying, "Years ago when but a boy". I'm 63 years old, retired from both the US Army and the City of Houston (spend over 21 years in each) and over the years, I've never figured it out. Wow! Thanks a million. Ed Vaught (eagle). a million
