Need help with a Trivia Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'm sure some of you must know this - these things tend to come round again & again!

I have NO idea!

Arsenal cannot do it unless Arsene Wenger leaves, Man Utd have done it more than any other British club, Liverpool have done it once but not in the usual way, Everton, Oldham and Charlton have all done it once but Wimbledon will NEVER do it unless Crystal Palace go bankrupt.

Can we have a clue?

Something to do with stadiums? Arsenal used to play in Greenwich, Man U played at Maine Road after Old Trafford got bombed. Everton played at Anfield. Oldham...no idea. But Charlton played for years away from the Valley, like the Dons do now. Playing at someone elses ground? Or buying someone elses grounds?

what is confusing me is why Wenger is crucial to the answer !!

chaps -

ta for having a go. I still don't know what the answer is, but am begginning to suspect it may be another of those Hull City ones, something pretty daft.

I'm going back to the chap who passed it onto me cos I'm getting nowhere. Needless to say, I'll post the answer as & when....thanks again for your suggestions!

It's something to do with moving cup matches to another ground, but then still playing oput of the 'home' dressing room. The Wenger connection is to do with the Arse playing their CL matches at Wembley and the fact that AW said they would never do it again as long as he is the manager.

The Wimbledon scenario is down to the fact that they play their lewague matches out of the vistors dressing room as CP won't let them have the 'home' one as their own.

BTW Stevo, CP don't own Selhurst Park anymore, they sold it to Sainsbury's to finance the new stand, but have taken out a 75 year lease on playing their.
