Congratulations Art Attack, Another fine victory. I am curious about the check valve used in your pump. Did you build it or was it a shelf item? Also for my two cents worth, on attaching the tires to the bottom plate did you think about drilling holes through the plate and using sheet metal screws and silicon to screw the tire down from the backside? And was the (chicken?) atop the pump made on site or brought for the purpose? Thanks.

Answers

We found a box which contained all kinds of valves and pump parts and they were perfect. About drilling holes....The base of our pump was made out of 1/2 or 5/8 steel. We just made little metal clips which we screwed in thru the check valve hole. Very precise to manuevre into that small space. The flap valve on the bottom was a piece of innertube, glued in place to cover the intake hole and then a coin glued on top which gave it some weight so it would always flap down again. As for the bird. I built that in the last 1/2 hour of the build. I make alot of art from recycled junk at home, so it was a natural to put the symbol of our kinetic race...."The Kinetic Chicken" As opposed to the rising phoenix... It ended up in someones garden from the crew...

It's funny watching the other episodes after an art attack one, where you go from something heavily painted and ornamented (I laughed out loud seeing one of the team running around with a pallette of paints while working on the boat) to a few scrawls with spray paint.

I sleep better knowing that if civilization falls tomorrow, between the NERDs and Art Attack, the lights will be on again in no time, though perhaps encrusted with bit more duct tape than before... PV
