How about a full size remote control car?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Why not have the teams try to put together some type of remote control vehicle? Have the vehicles go through thier paces on some type of track that is brutal enough to beat on the cars to see if they fall apart or not. It should also be that each team member has to ride in the car. (the person controling the car does not ride in it but rather control the car from a platform). the car goes through its run picking up a team member droping them off and returning to pick up another until each person has had a ride in the vehicle.

I think the remote-controlled car idea is great!! I think it would be a lot of fun to see the teams try and find the parts needed for the task even though I don't know about having one of the members in the car.

I think it's a Great Idea. I've been building on a Mini Sprint Car and often thought how neat it would be to make it Radio Controlled as well.

I would love the hell out of that! What a rush it would be to control a full size fire breathing car with a radio control. You could be completely wreckless with it. How would you rig up the controls in the car though? I'm familiar with hooking up servos in models, but I don't know squat about hooking up a radio receiver to something with enough power to turn a steering wheel and shift the gears.

Full scale might not work, but r/c is good. I build/ drive/break Remote control monster trucks, and the largest scale radio gear i've seen is 1/5 scale. 1/1 scale doesn't exist, But R/C is good!
