For Former Contestants: After the Contest

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

After the contest do you get a chance to "play" with your machine? See what it can really do? See what it takes to break it? Take the time to fix flaws that shook out during the contest and see if it would have made a difference?

I would have loved to play with that sand rail that the Long Brother's built! I can imagine that it could have been turned into a really nice toy with a few more hours work.

A few little things like clutch and throttle cables could have been greatly improved given a bit more time and selection of parts.

I expect on those that at least the seats are removed -- they were new and probably reusable on another challenge.

JustJay - why all the caps and exclamation points?

We really wanted to put one in the ocean, it was just over the hill down range, but, they hustled us right out. We were hardly out of our uniforms and the crane was picking up our cannon. I'm not sure if they were being charged by the hour or if we were under some time restriction, but, we had to get off the military range very quickly. JustJay

Hmmm, but what does actually happen to "Mechanical Marvels" that you fine folk have created. I'd hate to hear that they use the crushing machine on them. ;)
