Anyone raise a biblical garden? : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I've been seeing a lot of sections in catalogs and seed sites online for biblical garden seeds. What exactly would that be? I've read the bible, and recall mention of several things (like grapes) and how to grow them, and would be interested in more info. I've always felt that the bible really covered a lot of stuff that is good for health in it's comments on what to eat and what not to eat. Would be interested in what you know about it.

Thanks :-)

Plants mentioned in the bible-I have a list and possibly a plan.Gotten from the National Arboreaum, if I remember correctly. They have an extensive Herb Garden there. Herb, as in useful plant- includes quite alot of things. Not just culinary.

Try The Seedman ( He sells a collection of seeds for a Bible garden. I bought the seeds but I haven't started them yet. I thought it would be something interesting to try. Linda

Sounds interesting. Be careful with hyssop though. It will raise your blood pressure! I have controlled high blood pressure and it about makes the top of my head blow off when I touch it.

I have grown many Biblically based gardens there are basicly two ways to go about it, one just grow plants mentioned in the Bible (or) grow them the way mentioned. The 1st is the easiest really no rules to it just check seed catalogs and health food stores for seeds. Ask someone for references to modern names of the plants as some have more than one name. The 2nd is learn the ways and why for's of the Biblical laws of growing such as no mingeled [hybrid] seed and resting the soil ect. This 2nd approach takes much more time and skill, I have always the challenge more rewarding even on a spiritual basis. I will stop back in to see if any one is interested in more info.
