The final word about George vs. Robert!! (PLEASE!)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

I hope all these posts will end soon on Robert vs. George.

I have seen posts on George's "weird noises", but Robert did them as well....or have you forgotten already?

I have seen sooo many posts on how George just isn't funny. OK, so what....get over it. He is only making jokes about 10% of the WHOLE show!! The rest is just voice-overs on what is going on. Ignore it, mute it, or just DON'T WATCH THE SHOW! Basically quit complaining about it. It is over and filmed. They can't replace him now....

If the producers wanted to "Americanize" it a bit, since this is the "American Version" of the show....then so be it. Don't forget that Cathy Rogers is the executive producer of the show and had a part in choosing who would co-host with her!

So, as an American, I am VERY tired of British and Americans alike, bitching and moaning about "George sucks", "make the show British again", etc. Drop it! It's TOO LATE!!!

If you don't like it, don't watch it...very simple...just shuttup and wait for the new series.

Ok, Im in agreement to a point. Yes these episodes are over and done with. We cant change them, so why sweat it right. WRONG, we need to let the PRODUCERS(meaning there is more then one) know what we want. Lets face it, this is a television show. The only purpose its serves is that of an entertainment value. Yes they do try to educate, but when you break it down, its for entertainment. I write and complain about more then just the host. Yes I prefer Robert to George. But this one small change will not turn this junkyard fanatic away. My main hiccup with the show is the new teams they have. On all of the episodes, you have these retarded teams that do what ever the "expert says" and nothing else. They do the grunt work while the expert does every thing else. The old shows had engineers, bikers, nerds, and people who know their way in and out of the junkyard. This takes the fun out of the show. I know im biT*Hing but this is the way I feel, and I only hope the producers read these forums and answer to the appeals of their viewers.

Oh god forbid we should rock the boat. I'm sure the problem will go away all by itself.

And the issues ripples across the internet...

IMO, the problem ain't just george - it's the challenges being too easy (or the experts being too big a part of those challenges) - as already mentioned above. The boat capsizing was about the most exciting part of this (yawwwn) season. The brit shows just had SO much more character.

"If you don't like it, don't watch it...very simple...just shuttup and wait for the new series." One might suggest applying this sentiment to the purported bitching which occurs in this BBS as well... i.e. if you don't like it, don't read it....very simple...just shuttup and move on to another topic.

Personally, I think that were I a producer/television executive interested in viewer response to programming changes in a show, and happened to note the extensive (though repetitive)expressions of disapproval over the George/Robert change in hosts....how could I not at least ponder the notion of discarding George?

So tedious though they may be, the repeated rantings against George may perhaps be of some utility. And should they serve no more purpose than allowing some frustrated soul the opportunity to vent his anger through "anti-George" ramblings rather than gunning down his fellow office workers, well so be it.

Oh, and on a final note. Should anyone involved in the production of the show actually read this, George sucks. Bring Robert back into the equation somehow. Though...perhaps he and Cathy could periodically change their clothes...I realize ironing them is out of the question. Although Cathy is most seriously scrumptuous regardless of her attire...indeed sans attire altogether I would imagine....anyhow, I digress.

Somehow I don't think the rantings here on this BBS will affect TLC's decision as to choice of hosts.

It will be the ratings. If TLC sees Junkyard Wars ratings drop (which means a loss in advertising $$$), you can be sure they'd be reconsidering their choice of George as host.

Anyone got some Nielson's numbers? It'd be helpful to see how JYW is doing to date on TLC before & after George..

I like the British guy better but the American guy is not bad. The British teams have more fun and are more fun to watch. The junk yard seems to be obviously planted with too much good stuff. The only thing I wish wouldn't do is show preveiws that give away the ending. I'd rather be suprized by the whole thing. Just advertize when the program will be on and I bet just as many people will watch. I'd like to see you loose the expert added team members and just stick to regular guys (or gals). How about attorneys vs. steel workers!

for all you guys complaining about the american guy who is hosting, he isnt an american at all, he's a canuck, a pure canadian. So all you guys can stop dissing my home country boy or do you wanna make something of it, EH!
