Here is a good idea. it is called a gyro copter. no engine it requiered just a really big winch. the faster the copter goes the faster the blades spin giving it lift. they are acutly quite safe

tim there are no mechanisms on it. just the blades. once the winch lets go the copter wil "gyro glide" to the ground. it is actualy safer than gliding down in a plane.

And if one of the blades fails, a chassis weld breaks, a bearing siezes and the blades stop spinning, shakes itself apart due to unbalanced blades, or a zillion other failure modes... it's a plummet to the death baby!! And a rather guaranteed way to end Junkyard Wars permanently.

Having the teams stick their heads in a microwave oven to see who can hold it there the longest would be a far safer challenge.

well hey if that to dangerous then make a model type (still can be full scale but with no pilot) then can find a way to control it from the ground

I don't think this is such a bad idea. There have been a number of projects of equal danger - ultralight aircraft, diving helmet, sub.

The flying machines, diving challenge, submarine episodes were far, far safer than any heli/gyro-copter challenge would ever be.

but you need to read a little bit better. i said if that were to dangerous (and there have been a alot more dangerous thing than this) make it so there is no pilot needed and make a type of gyro glider which you launch to see how long it stays in the air with no pilot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have to agree it wouldn't be so danggers if R/C powered It's the best idea of them all (Hell I would rather biuld a R/C chopper than a WIND MILL any day!!!!!)
