My Choice For Host

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

While in London to film the "Missle Launchers" episode last August, I suggesed to Fiona that they see about getting "Mr Bean" to host the show. Everyone would be laughing too hard to get the machines built. I see that someone else has the same idea. Perhaps "Mrs. Bucket" would be good? I still think that George will do all right when the dust settles though.

The only problem with Mr.Bean would be that he doesn't say anything. On the other hand, Rowan Atkinson playing his usual comical self would be funny. How about Dame Edna hosting?

My choices for host:

1) Bill Nye

2) Penn Jillette

I still think Bill Nye would be great for the US or the UK version, if Robert is still unavailable Bill could at least make intelligent comments about the science! I'm sure he would love to host the show, he's an engineer after all!

Barring that, my second choice would be Penn Jillette. He really knows how to connect with the audience, and he's a major techno geek -- stuff that would click with the show.

Of course, there's no reason you have to have a fixed host! You could have a host-of-the-week -- having a diversity of viewpoints and styles could be a great thing.

I totally agree that Bill Nye would be the Perfect Host for the show. He is a real card & know his mechanics too!

Bill Nye is pretty busy with BattleBots....so I don't see him crossing over. Although, I have said that JYW is a much classier cousin of BBots!

Penn would be perfect for demonstrating to many of the naysayers how wrong, so very wrong, they actually are about George being the worst possible host.

"You thought this show was hosted by the smarmiest, most annoying man in America? Meet Penn. Now shut up and stop complaining, or next week it's Jeff Probst."
